Sea Isle City is a natural barrier island…

Where the land meets the sea and bay, tidal marsh and wetlands.
This highly fertile environment is the home to many indigenous plants, animals and marine mammals, and the feeding and nesting grounds of many birds of prey and migratory birds. As co-habitants, we must remain consciously aware as to how our daily lifestyle choices greatly disrupt the natural balances so critical to the health and well-being of this rich - yet fragile - coastal ecosystem. For its sustenance and the quality of life for this and future generations, we as individuals should willingly accept and share the responsibility to preserve and protect it today.
Here are some good stewardship practices
to adopt while enjoying your stay…
|
•
|
After a day at the beach or boating, gather all disposables and take them with you. When washed out to sea, plastic caps, tabs, bottles, and balloons are mistaken as food, causing death to marine mammals. |
|
•
|
Recycling on our island is mandatory. Use the clearly marked
recycle bins along the beach and promenade and follow the recycling guidelines below. |
 |
|
• When driving around our island, please slow down. From our children to Diamondback Terrapins - all life is fragile - and haste should be avoided. If a turtle is spotted, you can help. Stop safely and pick up the turtle carefully by its shell and place it across the road in the same direction it is traveling. |

The Sea Isle City Environmental Commission
invites everyone - children, parents and grandparents -
for a beachcombing experience.
It’s a wonderful family activity, fun and educational. You will learn facts about the
shells, birds, sealife, plants, ocean and dunes. Explore the beachseeking
“treasures”- only to discover the most important “treasure” of all is you. Because only
an aware beachcomber can help protect and preserve the sensitive seashore
environment for future generations to enjoy.
